That’s why we’ve built this streamlined platform with the tools you need to more effectively empower your students.
Overgrad was founded in 2013 by Ryan Hoch and Kevin Hoffman, two friends from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After teaching for two years at a high school in St. Louis, Ryan was discouraged by the lack of transparency his students faced when trying to plan and prepare for college. While 90% of Ryan's students wanted to go to college, only 8% would go on to graduate. So with this in mind, Ryan and Kevin teamed up to build Overgrad to help students make informed decisions to ensure success as they transitioned into college and beyond.
To this day, our mission remains the same, but our approach has evolved. We have grown from a solution just for schools to a platform that unites a student's support network in an effort to help them realize the opportunities their education can unlock. Overgrad is the trusted solution of the most innovative school counseling programs in the country. We now offer a wide variety of services and tools for students, parents, schools, and community-based-organizations.

Our Customer Success team is incredibly supportive both with training and onboarding and throughout the year as needs arise. As former counselors and educators, they understand the job and will do everything they can to help.
Nope! Schools start with Overgrad at various points of the year. Some schools have started in January using the college search and Overgrad’s unique match formula to help students build meaningful lists. Others have started in March with Overgrad’s award letter tool. Many choose kick off at the beginning of the school year.
